Toby's Great War effort part 2.1/72 MD Bristol Scout.Stalled

A World War One GB - any subject, any scale, 1914-1918 - this is not a 1914-specific GB.
Runs 6 weeks, July 28th to September 8th, to allow plenty of time for biplanes, rigging, and holidays.

Toby's Great War effort part 2.1/72 MD Bristol Scout.Stalled

Post by TobyC »

A very nice little kit from Mac Distribution with PE and resin extras.
Sadly no rigging diagram but I'm sure I can find one somewhere. It won't be naked.

That does look like a nice little kit, indeed! I see lots of options there, props, cowlings, rudders, even a spare wing. Always wanted to build one of these and will be watching closely.

If you get stuck for a rigging diagram, I'm sure I can come up with one next week ...

IP in.

Oddly enough the lower wing ailerons aren't marked so had to scribe them myself with the usual mishap. Scribing is not my greatest talent. Filler to the rescue I hope.

Tried this for the wood on the fuselage but it looked far too dark. (I'll be using if for the struts and prop though)

So I decided on this . Seemed a lot closer to what is shown on the box.(The instructions and colour charts that come with the kit are useless btw)

A few problems over come such as the port wing wouldn't harden but leaving it over night with some CA has fixed that!!

Image

Next up is fitting the struts over the nose which is something I always have a problem with

Thought I'd use super glue for sticking the struts. WRONG!!
Hopefully I can salvage the resulting disaster.
