Daz's Old-skool Airfix Spitfire IX **FINISHED**
Daz's Old-skool Airfix Spitfire IX **FINISHED**
My first build in this GB will be the old Airfix Mk.IX:
(This pic is actually one I reviewed for Modeling Madness about a decade ago - still got the model!)
Colour scheme will be different, however.

Bumping this one to the head of the Blitzbau queue - small number of parts and easy paint scheme should ensure it is built quickly!
Paint scheme shall be this aircraft:
Oddly enough, it's the same aircraft as Lancfan's recently-completed Spit!
Straight OOB build, minimal modification, spares box decals. Should be a piece of the proverbial.

OK, so I started this one a little earlier than planned!
Modifying the wingtips and cannons:
After a short amount of time:
I also painted the interior of the fuselage before sorting the wings. I left it to dry while I hacked the wingtips and cannons off!

Coming along well Daren, seeing this kit brings back memories of many happy hours building this kit in JE+J and other markings and others converted following articles in the original Airfix Magazine, they came in plastic bags then of course and the header card had the brilliant Roy Cross artwork- memories.

Yeah, I built a lot of these when I was younger. The one in the first photo is the only one I still have from my original modeling career!lancfan wrote:Coming along well Daren, seeing this kit brings back memories of many happy hours building this kit in JE+J and other markings and others converted following articles in the original Airfix Magazine, they came in plastic bags then of course and the header card had the brilliant Roy Cross artwork- memories.

Incidentally, it was the same kit I used for my original version of NH188 many moons ago!
