Ten hours in and, after three coats of Humbrol British Racing Green acrylic spray I have a little green frog sitting on my bench. Nice and shiny too.

Image

After fitting the front suspension I gave the underside a couple of coats of Halfords Satin Black. The wheels are finished too.

Just past the halfway mark, the interior has had a coat of paint in various shades of green and the wheels have been fitted.

Image

If I can get all the painting finished before I go to bed I should be home and dry. Next on the agenda, Bare Metal Foil for the chrome parts.

The hubcaps, rear overriders and windscreen surround have been foiled and the hubcaps fitted. I've given the interior parts another coat of paint so it should be dry by morning. I did a test fit of the body and it sits level as I was worried it might have a nose down attitude.

Anyway, here's how it stands at the moment.

Image

The dark green paint should show the chrome off a treat.

That looks great Tim, really like the idea of the foil cladding on the brightwork- this should really bring the model to life and the Humbrol spray can BRG will be so close to BMC Dark Green it will look very realistic.

I would have posted an update earlier but for some reason Photobucket wouldn't let me log in. :???: Fortunately I can now so here's what's been going on this morning.

Before going to bed last night I painted the lights, finished the dashboard and gave the seats a coat of Klear to make them look more like vinyl.

Image

By 8.00 this morning the seats and dashboard were fitted. I also painted the inside of the body to give an effect of door trim panels.

Image

Image

After that I applied foil to the edge of the cockpit, which took a while but I still had time to get everything else fitted before the 24 hours were up. I was worried about losing an indicator as they are about the size of a pinhead but the carpet monster went unfed.

So here it is.

Image

The hood isn't a particularly good fit so I'll probably leave it off but it was painted so here it is with the top up.

Image

I'll take some photos for the Gallery later today. After two days indoors modelling I will now make like Elvis and leave the building. :) Thanks for watching.

That is brilliant Tim, I just wish Airfix would re-release the rest of the range, what were once modern cars are now classics and must have a market given the current demand for nostalgia.

Smashing build Tim. Did your wheels suffer from sinks holes?

Thanks for the comments everyone. Here are a few more pictures of the finished Frogeye, or Bugeye as they're known in the US.

I think I might have to move the front number plate up higher, you'd never get over a speed bump with it like that.

Finally one with it's older sibling.

Yes there are some on the tyres but they're not too noticeable once the tyres were painted.
