Thanks to all.

I agree. It is a very basic build. I was hoping to do gears down, but the wheel well/gear bay situation was more than I wanted to deal with and although the kit comes with missiles and slipper tanks, they aren't well molded, look out of scale, and would have been distracting (at least to me).

The devil will be in the paint job and decaling on this one...and it will just be a matter of having enough time for things to dry and settle into place.

Well, here it is as of about 30 minutes ago. I got the seams fixed...

The biggest issues were with the underside. What a mess...

...this would have been a good subject for rescribing panel lines, and doing something more with the cockpit and wheel wells, but frankly, that's a lot more time then I would want to spend on this plane. Not to mention, there are plenty of F-86 kits out there that will build up quite well, so it's a wasted effort IMO.

Anyway, it's got a coat of primer drying on it right now, then hopefully, I can move onto yellow, black, and NMF in that order.

You are doing it justice. Keep going, it will be worth the effort in the end.

Here's a shot after the second blast of primer...

Image

...then we broke our fast while the primer dried...I made chocolate chip pancakes and bacon...

Image

...then it was back to the grind mill...and the insignia yellow was applied....

Image

...now I'm waiting for the yellow to get the point that I can apply some masks and add the black.

The black is on....

Image

...is it ever.

I decided to try something a little different. It will still be NMF, but I wanted to put down a black base first to see how that affected shading. What better time to experiment, than on a Blitz? Once this dries a little more, I'll add the last of the masking, then onto some NMF and decals.

Here it is after a spray of chrome...

Terrific work
Besting 60 years of mediocre building of average kits in the stand off scale

Thanks for the kind words.

Well, just before 4pm Central Time, the Blitz is completed and I'm just waiting for the decal solvent to set.

Seems that the second time was the charm. I'm having a tough time getting the photos to load, so I'll get those up in a minute.
