A Gem of a Midget *** Finished *** at 17.44

Post by fredk »

Just thought I'll post these up as I have the chance now;
A Hobbyboss MiG 15 UTI;

Looks like a few bits missing!

ah, under the tray is the main frame;

Just as many parts any other regular kit, so no advantage to me on this one.

I'll be doing this in all over silver scheme of the Finnish Airforce using these decals by GALDecal;

Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

Despite it being a Blitz I'll not be Russian this one.
Might need a Cold beer to go with it.

Nice choice!
I built that one last Blitzbau. Here's the thread if interested.

Hope you'll enjoy it and make a better effort than me. ;-)

This is a really good kit to blitz. I have built a couple & they go together very well.

Took a notion and started this one this morning.
Just after 3am; [03.04]
Image

Two hours later; looks like not much done, but actually there is.
The cockpit tub made up and painted. The exhaust and lead weight [5g] fitted to bottom half of fuselage, cockpit edges in upper fuselage half painted. Slipper tank halves glued up. Off picture; the wheels are painted.
Image

The cockpit glazing is a glass house so I spent some time on the cockpit interior; there is no detail nor decals for the i/ps so I cut up and stuck some Phantom ones on.
Image

Just a few minutes after taking that last photo; the fuselage and main wings all together;
Image

I didn't try the wings before gluing all together, they had a noticeable anhedral, so some glue along the root join and tape to pull them up to a neutral angle. Slipper tanks fitted and some Vallejo putty in the gaps.
Image

Time now; 06.34
Next; reduce that putty, fit u/c legs & doors, radar T, tailplanes and airbrake doors
Al speling misteaks aer all mi own werk..
Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

Latest. [09.49]
Sticky out bits glued on. I didn't want the airbrakes open but they are made to be, too much work to make them fit closed up. Only the main wheels left off.
Image

First coat of silver. I'm brush painting this. The unpainted bit of wing was left for somewhere for me to hold it.

cuppa T time.
