Lancfan's Spitfire mk VI ** FINISHED **

Post by lancfan »

This is my second blitzed Spitfire, it will be built over a twenty four hour period on Saturday 16th August starting at 10.00 AM and I will finish it in the box lid markings.

Good luck with this one David, I had a few issues with the Mk V.

All set up and ready for 10.00 AM tomorrow morning, sprues washed, paints and tools laid out. As before, I will begin when the alarm clock rings.

Was that the ICM kit? I have the Mk XIV but haven't looked around it much.

It's one of the Italeri kits Jeff and is based on the mark 5 kit, they have ten different Merlin Spitfires in their catalogue now, five in 1/72 and five in 1/48.

Well it is 09.00 hrs and I am drinking the first coffee of the day, have looked over the sprues and decided that because there is no sidewall detail in the cockpit I will close the (separate) cockpit door and have the canopy just slightly open. Breakfast this morning will be a simple one of toast and marmalade with coffee.

Here is the breakfast which was consumed as I edited this picture, all that now remains is the coffee which is disappearing steadily as I listen to local radio playing in the background.

Well, it is 10.00 AM, the alarm has sounded and the breakfast plate has been moved out of the way. The first job will be to pre-paint the parts as needed before I begin assembly, pictures TF.

That is a lot of jam jars full of water David. Or is it Vodka?

The jam jars are for washing brushes O_T, the cockpit door has been glued in place on the LH fuselage side and some basic detailing has been added to the cockpit sides, the basic cockpit green was then applied followed by pencilled in fuselage framing and the interior parts have been fully pre-painted. This now done the pace can be picked up as assembly begins although there will be a television break for one hour from 13.00 to 14.00.
