Back from the television I have brought a coffee to the hobby room and have just started assembling the cockpit parts.

The pencil lines hint at what should be there when viewed through a canopy, it is also fairly quick to do and is ideal for a blitz.

The cockpit has been assembled and the wings made up and are now drying for later. The cockpit will next be fitted into the fuselage and the halves will be joined up, the nose will then be checked for fit against the fuselage, the assembly sequence from there will depend on how it all goes together.

Good progress. Not a big fan of those pointy wing tips.

They do spoil the line O_T but I haven't got this one (or the mark VII) in the collection so I'll put up with it.

The fuselage has been assembled and when it was dry enough to handle the nose was assembled dry and held together with tape to check for fit to the fuselage against the instruction sequence, IMO if assembled as per kit instructions the nose does not have enough support to be properly positioned and I have fitted the fuselage to the wing before fitting the fully assembled nose later.

With the wing glued to the fuselage I had one half of a definately shaped pair of matching joints, the complete engine pod gave me the other half.
When the engine was glued to the fuselage the lower cowling panel fitted firmly against the centre section of the wing lower half leading edge and the engine pod could not now be fitted in an odd attitude, a piece of Tamiya tape will ensure that it stays in place as the glue dries. The model will now be left alone for a while to let the glue dry.

The nose has dried, the air intake has been glued down and the slight gaps in the wing root seams have been filled with thick acrylic paint. Doctor Who is about to start on television so I am taking an hour off for that, afterwards I shall clean up the wing root joints and fit the tailplanes- the model will then be ready for paint.

The tailplanes and aerial mast are glued down, when the glue has dried I can start painting the model.

Painting has begun with the Medium Sea Grey (Revell 76) undersides, out of view the front and rear portions of the canopy have also been fitted.

Jeff, classic comedy LOL.
Before I paint the camouflage and now that the fuselage is complete and strong I need to correct the two glaring faults with this kit- the mark VI was one of the first pressurised versions of the Spitfire and it did not have a cockpit entry door nor did it have a sliding canopy so there will need to be some filling and sanding flush before I open another paint pot.
The filler has been sanded down and the Ocean Grey (Humbrol 106) has been applied.
The Dark Green (Revell 68) came next.

Did not know about the pressurized difference. Thanks for that.
