Morning (afternoon?) all; thanks again for taking the time to look/comment on this thread.

Got up at 0600, had a quick breakfast of raisin toast (sorry, no pics) and coffee, then hit the bench. The grey paint seemed pretty solid so I masked off the red areas. I also had to make the little finlets on the drop tank out of styrene sheet, a task which consumed 20 minutes I couldn't really afford:

Image

By 0750 I'd sprayed the red areas, although for some reason the spinner paint has gone on grainy so needs to be re-done. Sigh. So here's where we're at:

With an hour to go, there's not a cat's chance I'm going to get this done in time. I still have to decal, mask/paint the black walkways and anti-glare panel, mask/paint the metallic areas around the exhausts, add the undercarriage/drop-tanks/aerials/exhausts/tailwheel (still to be painted BTW), give the model a final coat of varnish and remove the masks  (I also realized I made the tank pylons too short, so the dropped flaps interfere with the rear of the tanks).

At this point there's no point in rushing it; I might as well accept defeat but try and make a proper job of finishing it. Image

You are correct Mike. No need to push. I have to say that the drop tanks sure make the overall appearance different. A very obscure subject.

You can always show the flaps at a 10 degree setting for takeoff. There could be clearance for that.

Impressive as always.

Cheers Jeff.

So here's the final Blitzbau pic, taken 24 hours after starting. Walkways and anti-glare panel masked and ready to paint black.

Not sure how I underestimated this so badly. It's not the kit's fault, it's a very straightforward build. Maybe spent a bit too much time on the cockpit, a bit too much time on the patio for lunch. Definitely underestimated time needed for masking (even though it's a fairly simple scheme) and the drop tank issues didn't help either. No worries. I'll move along with it and will post progress in my workbench thread.

Another blitz missed by me due to work getting in the way. Shame you missed the deadline Mike but that is looking really very good and it will be great to see it finished up in your WW thread.

Bad luck, and it was coming along so nicely. I find it is so easy to lose time doing a blitz, especially in doing the cockpit (nice seat by the way) and I always seem pushed at the end. Definitely good idea not to rush it but take time to finish it. Should look good when finished.
