Splash's Vauxhall Victor Estate ***Sorry DNF***

Post by splash »

I picked this kit up from a junk shop last year for £4. The kit has been part started with the very basic engine being badly stuck together and there are some minor parts missing or broken.

Frog made several 1/16 scale vehicles that came with electric motors including an E Type Jag and if my memory serves me well an Ambulance, the kits are big but very basic and if the rest are anything like this Victor only a passing resemblance to accuracy.

I reckon Frog made these more as toys than accurate models

Looking forward to seeing this. I've got Russian repops of the Morris 1100 and Cortina Mk1 in the stash, complete with yellow tyres

What can I say, it's a large scale model of a relatively large for British standards car.

So as you would expect a big box, but what I was not expecting was the very large old style instructions sheet.

Just the one exploded diagram? Can't complain about it being too small! :)

:ha: :ha: :ha:

I'm thinking of a tarpaulin to cover the finished kit :-D

The kit is basic by just adding the seats transmit ion tunnel and forward bulkhead the interior is almost finished

As you can see the kit is quite big.

That is a very cool and interesting old kit Splash, it will be impressive when finished both for the size and subject, very cool watching this come together!

In addition to the schoolboy pocket money classics, FROG also did some quite amazing larger kits and it is a crying shame that these are no longer available and that no one like Moebius seems much interested in repopping them...

This is looking really great, Splash...what a find and what a build!

I quite agree with you, but who would buy the Victor, it was not the best looking car of the 60-70's.

Having said that, you can see the American influence in the Victor's shape and Vauxhall did build the cars in twin colours like pale green Body and dark green roof or white body and deep red roof.

Frog made a good choice with their choice of plastic, having using a crisp hard plastic that has not warped or gone brittle over the years, even the large transparency has stayed clear.
