Starting to take shape. I haven't seen any Frog Baltimores on eBay for ages at a sensible price.

With the flying surfaces attached it's now starting to look more like an aeroplane :)

The Balt is a rather cool looking machine - and your build is doing it justice.

Started painting the scheme today. Staying true to my 'As FROG intended' philosophy
I'm not spraying but using the hairy stick, as back in the olden FROG days airbrushes
and rattle cans were few and far between. It's streaky at the moment but I'm building
up with many thin coats, so it'll be all white in the end I hope

Also temporarily back to PicturTrail for my photo hosting as Flickr seems to be having
problems yet again.

Julian,

What paint are you using and how far have you thinned it?

Revell acrylic matt white thinned to 50% with a dash of retarder. I've used it before for smaller models but this is the largest so far, so I'm taking it steadily. It seems to be covering OK.

I have no luck brush-painting white. How long do you leave it between coats?

I usually wait at least half an hour, even though it's still quick drying. Sometimes I then go over with very fine sandpaper before applying the next coat. Four coats so far and it's looking a lot better. I think six or seven should be enough.

The nice thing I find with Revell acrylics in the boxes is that after a good shake you can quickly take of the lid and then add as much water as you need to the paint in the lid to use on the model, especially useful when using a brush and thin coats as you are Martin. It is the way I painted all my models till I found the virtues of a good airbrush.

The white seems solid enough now, so starting work on the rest of the camo:

Tasty!

Is that a Boulton-Paul turret a la Defiant and (later) Halifaxes?

I wonder if the Martin turret from an Academy Ventura would fit. Would that make it a Mk V?
