Today's plan (once I get back from work, anyway) is to check on the paint-stripping from the Dettol bath I gave the model, and see if I can get the worst of it off with an old toothbrush.

However, the back-up plan is still in place, as I managed to bag another of these last night!

A little on the flat side, but nothing too drastic (nobody I know would notice anyway! )

I actually realised the other day that one of the scrap Spits I restored a couple of months ago is actually the Frog kit (or one of its various incarnations). The thick wings and boxy radiators, among other things, were a giveaway when I started building this one.

Right, the results of the Dettol bath are:

Believe me, the paint job I had done on it wasn't great - in fact, I would have been properly embarrassed to put it up on here! At the moment, the underside is done, and the first bit of new camouflage is on. Fingers crossed it doesn't go wrong this time!

I've left the paint to dry overnight, and it's looking a lot healthier this time around!

I reckon it'll be done by tomorrow, anyway.

All OOB, except the decals, which were from the Airfix kit. I think I'm fairly pleased with that effort.

A pleasant build, nothing nasty about it, although the undercarriage legs are a bit on the clunky side. If I were to do it again (which is a distinct possibility!) I would use spares for them, or at least rework the worst bits of them.

Nice job Daren, there's nothing like a Frog kit for an enjoyable build.

Thanks, chaps!

I have another of these en route, but I very much doubt I'd get it done in the time left for this GB. (Apart from anything else, it would take me that long to think of a paint scheme!)

A wee question....

Someone on Facebook mentioned that the codes on the starboard side should read ZX-6 from the tail forwards. I followed the Airfix paint scheme for this model, so this doesn't seem correct in that case.

Also, from looking at the colour profile I posted, the brown and the sand should be reversed - but I don't think this is correct, either! Also, the Polish chequerboard in the picture shows a white square in the top left corner, but I'm sure it should be a red one.

:???:

Anyone care to weigh in?
