Re: Splash's Jet Provost T1
It looks simple, when I got it I only paid £5 and thought it was a bargain, in my ignorance I thought the two comfy chairs that came with the kit looked a bit odd and order two Bang Seat replacement's, then as usual I carried out my last minute research and discovered back in 1955 not all jets had Bang Seats including the T1 JPSir T wrote:That looks like fun Splash.
The kit is very simple and should not give me much trouble, it comes with two sets of marking for a silver and yellow trainer and a very attractive White over red "Swallows" display team a/c.
I don't have much experience with resin kits apart from conversions, so this will be a new challenge.

Interesting kit. I'll be interested to see what the interior looks like.

Apart from what look like two arm chairs out of a 1950's sports car, not a lot as it will be a dark black hole.mjatx wrote:Interesting kit. I'll be interested to see what the interior looks like.

This looks good I shall be watching with interest. Never heard of Protojets Resins. Looks very straight forward, it will be interesting to see how this builds up. I assume the canopy is vacform?
I keep on meaning to modify the old Airfix JP to the Mk 1 but never getting around to it.

I would guess that most of the pit will be as per the Piston Provost with which the mark 1 JP seems to share assemblies.mjatx wrote:Interesting kit. I'll be interested to see what the interior looks like.

Nice choice Splash. Looking forward to seeing what you do with it.

Re: Splash's Jet Provost T1
The parts have been washed and I have spotted a very thin wall on the port side of the C/P with small holes that will need a carful bit of attention.
To get a good strong wing joint and the correct dihedral I'm thinking of adding a wire rod between the wings and body so tonight will be drill time, before I break out the 5 minute epoxy glue.

Good luck with that Splash - it looks like a nice little introduction to Resin kits.

I think you are right as you can see after sticking three parts to the body I'm at this stage.Sir T wrote:Good luck with that Splash - it looks like a nice little introduction to Resin kits.

Re: Splash's Jet Provost T1
A coat of Tamiya White primer has only highlighted the join between the tail plane and a small area on the nose that will need attention.
The time spend getting a good wing joint has paid off as no filler was needed.

Re: Splash's Jet Provost T1
Being a solid resin kit I have nowhere to add nose weight so I'm convinced this will be a tail sitter.
I could drill out the tail pipe but the weight saved would be minimal, the only area I can see is under the seats where I might be able to add some liquid gravity.
