I always treat PE as a pick and mix. Use what you can, where it matters and looks better than what's already there.
That's the conclusion I came to James, you'd need to sand down the sideswall by a great degree to get the detail to fit around the seats, which are really tight anyway - unfortuently I don't have the time. I'll still try to fit the IP and rear deck though, although the ip will need to be cut down.

I'm intending to use the exterior detailing parts though - but i tend to pick and mix too.

Cheers

You can get a good white metal cockpit set for the Sea Venom. (check this link)
When I built mine I looked at fitting resin seats but like you fond the lack of space to much grief and the lack of transparency in the canopy defeated the object.

I still have one left in my stash and plan to build it with a detailed c/p wings folded and canopy open but that's some way down on my build list.

The good news about the kit is, you don't have to add the nose until the end and it has stacks of space to add weight in, to stop it tail sitting.
My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

Hi Splash, sounds like you know what I'm talking about, and yeah that was the other thing, I noticed the clear part is so thick you'd not be able to see any of the added detail anyway. If you are gioing to do another then a vacform canopy is a must I'd say.

On the plus side, the fit of the pod was really good, as was the gun tray. No filler required. It looks like the canopy will fit really snuggly as well.

I've already filled the nose with weights :-D

Cheers

I found the parts fit on the Sea Venom was very good, much better than their earlier twin boom kits.

Nice one Stuart and that PE should help tart it up considerably. I have still yet to build a FROG kit!

Well I'm back from my course, and I have the afternoon at home looking after the kiddies, so I might be able to crack on with this :-D

I'm feeling a bit burnt out to be honest :boom: So a nice simple FROG build is just what I need.

Cheers,

Stuart

Having just looked at Davids Javelin Thread, I'm going to have a go at adding a bit more detail to the seats. I've also got to add the read deck. I'm still not sure how to add an IP yet as the PE one is a bit of a poor fit. Perhaps I might make one out of card - we'll see.

Cheers

A bit more progress this lunch time - a bit of filler applied around the booms and wings. The fit of these parts wasn't too bad, but a little filler was needed.

I've just picked up the Frog Venom for what I think was a snip. £6.50 all in. It was ending about the same time as ebay had problems as one identical a couple of days earlier had gone for almost £12 and I don't think the snipers got a look in.
