Re: Chip's IAF Sambad
Fun to build and quick too, the wings are now on and the pilot in:
I have used a bit of painted tape for the seatbelts, and applied a smidgeon of PVA to the wing roots to fill in the thinest of gaps. I am just waiting for the canopy to dry (forgot to dip it in klear earlier ), then it can be fitted and the painting can commence.

Re: Chip's IAF Sambad
Plodding along with this one, my Frog GB seems to be eating up all my time. I have however managed to complete the construction on this:
I will mask and attach the canopy just prior to painting as I have had some issues with the warm weather causing the masking tape that I use to leave a lot of glue residue on removal, even damaging the windscreen on my last helicopter build.
I was pleased to find that this is not a tail sitter, unless the plastic disk I fitted at the "Front" was enough to change the balance in my favour.

Looking very smart, I just love the look of the 50's & 60's jets, far better than the modern bland jets.

Agreed Splash. They were designed by people using a pencil rather than everyone using the same software.splash wrote:Looking very smart, I just love the look of the 50's & 60's jets, far better than the modern bland jets.

This one is a lovely shape & looking very good. Possibly a future Blitzbau candidate.

Re: Chip's IAF Sambad
That is looking the part and I agree totally regarding the shape - some of these early swept wing jets are wonderful looking machines. It's a bit like comparing classic cars to today's models which have largely been in the same wind tunnels and have been designed with similar computer assistance. Although more efficient, something of the designer's soul is lost I feel.

Re: Chip's IAF Sambad
Having returned from an unexpected week away (hence the lack of involvement in this GB ) I am now snowed under with work but will try my hardest to get some paint on this before the deadline. I have masked up the canopy but have had a drama getting it to fit, it wasn't until the 3rd attempt that I realised that the seat appears to be off to one side so it keeps pushing the canopy across. One step forward......

First coat of primer has highlight a couple of areas that need a bit of work but nothing too drastic. I hope to have a good day on the airbrush tomorrow.

Started to get some colour on the top, just the brown to do, then decals and attachments, could still make Friday deadline.
