Glad you like the guys Shaun.ShaunW wrote:Excellent OT - my eyes are certainly tricked
Here she is ready for decals:
Unfortunately I am not sure I have all the decals I need so this could be a DNF.
I will get her as close as I can though.

O_T, what decals are you missing? I have the Frog Mirage III decals in the stash so may be able to help.Old_Tonto wrote:

Re: OT's Delta Winged Mirage
Its ok David, decals arrived form Rob in Holland just in time. Cheers mate. It was the fuselage flashes that I needed most. They were over 30 years old but performed well once slid off the backing paper despite the adhesive turning a yellowish brown colour. After a coat of Microsol the settled very well.lancfan wrote:O_T, what decals are you missing? David.
The decals supplied with the kit have proven unusable. I only managed to salvage the squadron badge.
Everything else has come from the spares box.
I have all I need except for the tail rudder markings. Those supplied with the kit are red\white\blue so I have a cunning plan to replace the red with orange. This means of course that I have to successfully release the decal from the backing paper then add a strip of orange decal.
What could possibly go wrong?
Once that is done just the national markings & number to go. I had wanted to use the 'Mirage IIIBZ' from the decal sheet but it disintegrated.
I will make one the next time I print some decals.

Re: OT's Delta Winged Mirage
Nice one OT - the Mirage lends itself to fuselage lightning flashes like that. I'm looking forward to the results of your cunning plan re the rudder markings. Indeed, what could possibly go wrong?

Re: OT's Delta Winged Mirage
As it turned out everything, I could not get the original decals off the backing sheet! So I used a spare rubber marking from a Mirage IIIC. It has the wrong text on it but you can't read it in this scale anyway.ShaunW wrote: I'm looking forward to the results of your cunning plan re the rudder markings. So I am calling this one done.
Glamour shots to follow.

Great work, those decals supplied with the kit were shocking in mine too. I think I used some from an Airfix F.1 in the end.

Cheers gents, you are too kind.
As I don't seem to have time to take any glamour shots I will stick the two images I have in the completed gallery then put something in the aviation section when I get better pics.
