AirJim does a Vamp

Post by airjim »

Some say the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. I guess that makes me insane. I have a tendency to join group builds and not finish, but I'm in a new state...so this time it will be different! Yea...sure...

Anyway, the topic for this thread is the rather nice Heller Vampire. I'll convert mine into an F.3 with new wing tips, not sure if I'll use a resin set or make my own out of plastic, and will finish it in RCAF markings. Scheme is, as of yet, undecided. I've got the CMK kit which has tons of different decal options and an Xtradecal sheet with a 402 Squadron option.

Nice and simple. Any reasonable modeler could build it in a month. Stay tuned to see if indeed I am a reasonable modeler or something else entirely.

Nice choice of kit I think I have one in my stash so will enjoy watching your build.

Did Airfix re-box the kit?
My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

Indeed, a nice choice - it's a lovely little kit.

I'm looking forward to this, especially the F3 wingtips.

This looks to be a nice kit Jim. I am "something else entirely" and would probably take about 12 weeks to finish it up :ha:

So, well, yea...this was a bad idea. A busy month of work, two sick girls with the back to school flu, and little progress on the Vamp. (Not to mention the beautiful sunny weather here in Seattle.) I got one wing together, the cockpit painted and that was it.

This is the final straw - no more group builds for me. I'll finish the Vamp, but it will take more than a month.

Sorry,

Jim

No worries Jim,

These things happen sometimes - its been a crap month for me too - Three GB's, Three DNF's... I just hope my Monogram GB entry next month is better.

I hope your Girls are feeling better.

Take it easy,

Stuart
