That kit certainly does have some very nice surface detail, good old ESCI. I must admit that I have never seen a kit in a Humbrol branded box before and I've been moving across the crust of the planet for a good few years :ha:

In daylight the grey was to dark so I have lightened it up, now I'm not sure if I should do it in the German Naval colours?

Nice fine panel lines for an eighties kit. Makes you wonder what Airfix are doing wrong...... ;-)

I never realised that Humbrol made kits either. This is a real gem with your input.

I can remember them in the shops, but it was at that time when kit manuctures had to use photos of the built kit as the box art. The downside of that period in time no one remembers the kits as the boxes were so bland.

If the other Humbral kits are as good as this one, I for one will keep an eye out for them.

The splinter camouflage on this small kit would have taken too long to mask so I have broken out the hairy stick and given its first thin coat of green.

Nice one Splash. The splinter cam looks unusual on a jet to my eyes and is very reminiscent of WWII Luftwaffe schemes.

I fully agree with you, but it does look right on such a angular a/c :-D

A re-spray of the lower grey and some black and white has got me to this stage.

A quick test fit of the canopy looks like it's going to be a good fit so that's a bonus :-D

The big question do I fit Sidewinders or tanks on the wing tips?

Looking good Splash. Personally, I would favour the wing tanks but then again it could be argued that nearly all Starfighters are built with wing tanks on and the 'winders would make a change. Oh dear, I've now got my indecisive head on. Which is not a great help is it?

No...I'm going to make a decision...wing tanks.

The Starfighter looks really good in the splinter camouflage Splash.

Personally, I'd go for tip tanks as they were common on the G/S models. I'm pretty sure there was a centreline rack that accommodated sidewinders.

Charity shops are a good place to find old kits going cheap, in the past I picked up a full unbuilt 1/24 scale Airfix Harrier for the pricly sum of only £7, so it's always worth a look :-D
