Re: Jim's Candy Me
There we go, got a chance to setup the airbursh tonight, a very long time since I've waved it about....
A bit of Tamiya red and a quick unmask...
It was some very very thinned red, and took a bit of building up, I was getting concerned it would be so thin that I'd get some bleed, but I've been lucky. Just a couple of places I've got to scrape a little away to tidy up some of the crosses edges.
The underisde crossed look a little twisted to me, but might just be thinner fumes...

Re: Jim's Candy Me
I am doing a What if He-100 in this scheme and am at the point of painting the red stripes. Now just need to mask and do it.
Your 109 is looking great. I have always loved this scheme.

Re: Jim's Candy Me
Thanks folks, loving the painting on this, I realise it's my favourite part..
More masking occured yesterday, and some underside colour was on, then more masking and the greens are on tonight...
The masking is over
A few little touch ups required, hopefully do that tomorrow night.
Cheers

Re: Jim's Candy Me
That candy striping is a brilliant colour scheme, it certainly stands out and it makes these aeroplanes look more like display team aircraft or air racers than fighters.

Re: Jim's Candy Me
Thanks guys, not much not worthy happned during the week, just some touch ups and a couple of coats of Klear.
Got a chance tonight to pop on some deccles..
Since the boss was rappping me over the knuckles re the codes, I butchered the aforementioned codes, as Paul suggested the four became a one, and the eight became part of the three. A teeny piece of white form the same scheet became the top of the three, and I'll touch up the gap with some.
Popped the canopy on, and it is the best fit for a canopy I have ever struck, so good in fact I thought I'd try just wicking Klear into the join to see if it'll hold it.
Only bit of drama was I snapped one of the tailplane struts, luckily one of the kids has decided to build a Hasegawa 109 and doesn't want to faf about with the tail struts so he donated them to the cause... He'll get extra pocket money this week
Cheers

Re: Jim's Candy Me
Well almost finished, got the tailplanes and struts on, and a semi gloss on her, just the dangley bits to put on, which I think is a first for me in my adult modelling, as I normally build gear up.
So should be all finished early next, as no modelling this weekend, as it's a long weekend here in NZ, and we are away.
Cheers
