Andrew's Heller Bu 133 Jungmeister **Fertig**
I'll be having a go at the Heller 1/72 kit of the Bucker Jungmeister in Swiss airforce service
It should look something like this, although I haven't decided exactly which example I am going to do yet, there are various examples in different Swiss air museums.
Here's the box and contents.
It's a very simple kit. There's not much interior, and the seat looks like it's been made out of planks of wood. I may need to add a wee bit, just to fill up the space in the cockpit.
I will try and print some decals for the black curvy stripes on the sides. The other problem I have is that I can't do any painting with the airbrush yet, because there's too much bending and stooping involved. As I'm still in stitches ( ) from my gall bladder operation I can't do that just yet. I don't fancy brush painting yellow. So, I will concentrate on getting the interior done first , then hopefully close it up and get it sprayed in a week or two.
cheers

Very nice. Heller do some really good kits I've decided.
Whenever I do yellow I put a base coat of dayglo orange or red on first. Gives it a deep finish.

Enjoyment over accuracy. That's my motto

Sand primer with yellow on top works well for me. But it needs to be airbrushed.TobyC wrote:Very nice. Heller do some really good kits I've decided.

Very cool! This is one type they didn't have at Dubendorf - a Jungmann, ja, but not a Jungmeister.

Re: Andrew's Heller Bu 133 Jungmeister
The interior and engine primed in dark grey
I also dry-brushed silver on the engine cylinders and casings and on the instrument panel, which has raised detailing on it.
I decided that it's going to be OOB construction with just the yellow swiss scheme being the custom job.
The sheet of paper is my preliminary decal design. The black curves are based on a parabola, but are too shallow for the fuselage decoration. I'm going to redesign them.
The lettering looks quite good in Colibri font. There are some RAF codes for the Boston on that sheet (Z2249) for that I use Arial.
cheers

An internet search revealed that there have been kits by CMR and Huma in 1/72, as well as resin and vacform kits, but nothing by mainstream companies as far as I can tell. A pity.

Re: Andrew's Heller Bu 133 Jungmeister
Assembly of the interior was straightforward, although there are no positive locators on the inside of the fuselage - just scribed lines where the cockpit floor and back go.
The engine was easy to assemble, although the same cannot be said for the cowling, which is in three pieces.
I found the best way was to glue the cowling directly onto the engine cylinders, making sure to align the cylinder underneath the blisters on the cowling.
The lower wings needed a gentle filing to get them to fit flush with the undersides. A little filler will be needed.
This is a very small aircraft, as you can see compared to the Boston and the Sopwith Camel. The nice people at Heller have predrilled holes for the rigging too.
So far, so good.
cheers

Quick start, Andrew - looks as if it is a pretty simple kit.

It is pretty simple, although the upper wing will pose the usual problems. No clever engineering to help, just a diagram telling you that the cabane struts must be 17 mm apart at the top. I don't like the moulded in wheels eitherPaulBradley wrote:Quick start, Andrew - looks as if it is a pretty simple kit.

Re: Andrew's Heller Bu 133 Jungmeister
I'm in the process of priming the Jungmeister for the yellow. This has involved several coats of sand primer (so far!).
The upper wing in the picture belongs to the Monogram P-6E Hawk which comparatively large compared to the diminutive Bücker. It should really be called the Bückerli.
We might need another coat or so of primer on top, and then I'll prime the undersides.
cheers
