The first coat of yellow on the Jungmeister. The Monogram P-6E Hawk is the other aircraft.

Looks like the yellow went on just fine. But that might be a jaundiced view...

I even found time to test fit the upper wings and set the struts at the (hopefully) correct angle. I also started rigging. The rudder has been done.

I've just started on the cabane rigging lines. The telescope sight needs painting. I forgot about it

cheers

That is really nice. The yellow has come out very well...on both models

White patches painted on where the national markings go. I have to cut the masks for the crosses next.

The undersides have also been painted yellow.

The wing ones are across the whole surface, at least 8 mm across. The rudder ones half that. I hope to try cutting masks today... if I can find my wide masking tape!

Rather than trying to cut a cross, try layering two intersecting strips. I never had any joy with crosses - the arms were never equal!

I've shamelessly plagiarized Jim's idea and printed some crosses as templates. If I can't cut them out straight ( ) then your method is Plan B!

Here is my method of making masks.
Print the crosses on plain paper (I used PowerPoint to draw the squares and arrange in a cross, then cut and pasted them into Paint.net to tweak the sizes).

Image

Then put a piece of baking parchment over the design, then Tamiya tape on the parchment. If you put the tape directly on the paper, it will not peel off, but the non-stick baking parchment can be peeled off with the end of a sharp scalpel.
Then cut to size..

Image

Then a couple of coats of red, done with a brush here.

Image

And there we are. Easier than I expected. No runs under the masks.

Image

Now I need to reprint the black curved lines for the fuselage decoration onto decal paper.

cheers

Thanks, I was pleased with that result. The black curve decals will be a bit tricky. I need to print them off tonight
