The first set of decals are on.

The black curves on the fuselage will be applied as decals (Tee hee! What a jolly jape  ) and have been printed this afternoon and given a coat of sealant. I'm going to apply a second coat of sealant tonight.

cheers

It does look a nice little kit. You promoted me to visit ebay where I found one quite cheaply

It must count as a Classic French Kit. Just watch the three piece cowling. I have another one in the stash.

Here we have the fuselage curves on. I think they are a bit skinny, so I may try and beef them up a bit.

I think you are right, Andrew -a bit more bulk needed in those stripes, but the shape looks good and the overall effect is terrific; it's a very pretty scheme.

So here we have the beefed up stripes

I used the spare set that I printed to double the width.

Much better!

Except I just noticed that they should meet on the fuselage. Argh!
That was careless. Well, I'm going to leave them now. So there!

Admiration for this kit grows and grows. It's actually been engineered to be rigged. There are pre-moulded holes for some threads, and all of the struts have channels at the ends to run the rigging through.

Image

It means that you can do all the rigging before putting on the top wing!

Image

And that really makes it a simple aircraft to rig.

Image

Doing the whole thing took me only 90 minutes.

Image

To get the top wing on, I just put it upside down on the bench and then put the kit down over it to align the struts into the location points on the lower side of the upper wing.

Image

By far the easiest full rigging job ever!

cheers

I must see if there are any other Heller biplanes are designed like this. Simple and effective.
