Bluesteels Heller Morane 225 ***FINISHED***

Just checking the kits all there - it is. But those decals look very yellowed. I'll try the window
bag trick but I may have to seek alternative decals.

Made a start and painted sub assemblies. Lucky I read French as the instructions are French only...

Struggled to find a pilot to fit as the Revell ones are too bid. A legless Airfix style one will have to do. From a brief bit of research it seems French flying suits of the time were sandy/tan with either leather or white colour flotation gear.

For decals, and something different, you might consider Carpena sheet 72-20, which includes decals and conversion details for the MS226 naval fighter.

I'm going to try to recover the original decals Paul. But it's a good suggestion if they turn out to be unusable, provided I can find that sheet as Hannants don't have it at the moment.

Now I've hit a mini Aaaaaaaaaargh! Moment.

If you remember at the start of this build I put the very yellowed decals in a little plastic bag on an interior windowsill to see if they will become less yellowed. But I am now the victim of the windowsill monster as I can't find them and I've looked on every ledge in the house. I need to put them on at this stage as the under wing decals have to go on before attaching the struts and rigging as the struts go through the decals

Luckily I was placing an order with Kingkit and found they had a later boxing of the Heller Morane 225 going cheap, so I've added it to the order. Perhaps the decals might be better, at least that's what I hope. While I'm awaiting delivery of those I'll make a start on the Caudron I was going to build after the Morane.

Thanks. I quite like the shade it's Revell Acrylic 360 Fern Green. It's actually a little darker than it looks as the flash makes it lighter.

The windowsill monster ?

Does this mean that the carpet monster has mutated?

should we all be scared?

How high can it climb?

Does it only like decals?

Why have I not read about this in the National Press?

I wouldn't worry too much as the last mutated carpet monster was making it's way upwards via my woolly-pully when I mysteriously lost a propeller and discovered it in the plughole - must have caught up on my woollen cuffs. But it seems you should worry if you are building French aircraft, as that time it was a Heller Dewoitine D 510! So it either has an appetite for Heller or French aircraft or maybe both...?

That's ok then, I will sleep better tonight as I don't have any French a/c on the bench.

Hang on I'm building a Swiss Hunter what language do the Swiss speak?

Depends what part of Switzerland you are in - could be French, German, Italian or Romansh.....
