Finally made a start on this.
The first step was to cut out the various fuselage parts, this is one of five parts;
and glue them together. This build is going to be quite a learning curve, the latest lesson learnt is not to use clamps with corrugated platforms to hold paper parts together whilst drying, as you end up with ridges on your model:
To glue the larger parts together I employed the use of a broom handle and some sellotape. By wrapping some tape around the broom handle sticky side out I could hold the piece in place whilst applying glue to the tab:
Then wrapped the piece around the handle and glue into place:
Once dry I slid the part off the handle and snipped away most of the tape from inside using scissors. I left some tape on to reinforce the glued joint, whether this is a good idea will probably become apparent later.
Once the five pieces were assembled and the front three joined together I realised that they were quite flimsy, so I cut out some circles of various diameters and inserted them into the tubes to add some rigidity:
The next stage is to build the turret for the top from these parts:
Now I have got my teeth into this I am quite enjoying it.
