Re: Andrew's Hawk P-6E
I painted the pilot today. Once he's finished, then I can put him in the cockpit and get the fuselage together.
He has a big peg sticking out from one leg which fits into a socket in one of the fuselage halves, so he can't be slotted in later!
cheers
Andrew

Re: Andrew's Hawk P-6E
I put the pilot in and glued the two fuselage halves together. Fit was good.
Then add the lower wings, and cowling top.
I won't mount the rudder permanently yet, becuase I need to paint it too different colours, so it will be easier to mask as a separate piece
I've also tried the top wing as a push fit. It takes a little pushing to get the cabane struts located properly
The main snag encountered so far is that part 11, the radiator shroud was missing. I've scratchbuilt a new one from a few strips of plastic card.
That didn't take long!
cheers

Thats looking really nice Andrew! A nice bit of recovery with that intake!
I do like the way these Biplane kits go together.

It goes together well. Filling the wing roots is tricky with the integrally moulded wheel struts!Sir T wrote:Thats looking really nice Andrew! A nice bit of recovery with that intake!

Re: Andrew's Hawk P-6E
That's coming together nicely Andrew - Did you paint the yellow right over the yello plastic or did you prime it first?

Primed first. Utterly essential!Sir T wrote:That's coming together nicely Andrew - Did you paint the yellow right over the yello plastic or did you prime it first?

Looking good. Will you be rigging this one? I stalled on my build of this kit partly because I have no idea how to do rigging with the spreader bars in the middle of the flying and landing wires.

Re: Andrew's Hawk P-6E
I usually airbrush now, because I can get better finishes that way. But my airbrush setup has the compressor on the ground, and I don't want to do much stooping and bending.tonp wrote:Never used air brushing, looks to technical for me , a great looking little plane with great colours.
I only use Vallejo acrylics through the airbrush, so cleaning is a doddle.
This scheme would require some tricky masking if I was airbrushing though!
A bit more paint on, and posed with upper wing in place, but not glued
cheers
