Very nice work.
Re: Titan's Sdkfz. 232
Very subtle and realistic weathering. Scrubbing up very well.
Besting 60 years of mediocre building of average kits in the stand off scale

Re: Titan's Sdkfz. 232
Thanks all, been a bit busy lately so only had time to do little bits on this.
I will start now by saying that there is still bits to do to this so this in not finished yet, the figures will need more attention as will the lean to and poles. The base will get a layer of fine grass as a flatish base which will be sprayed over with a suitable sandy/desert colour.
Here is the progress so far.....
Regards
Mark
These will be added in the open position once I am completely sure that the weathering has finished ( don't want to be knocking them off...)Clashcityrocker wrote: Are the engine covers staying off?

It should be hot enough in the desert to fry that on the mudguard

Re: Titan's Sdkfz. 232
Whatever they are in the pan they are only getting one each if they are lucky because they are stuck to the pan....lol.
Just one progress shot of the base.
I've given the base a coat of flat black which was then coated with white glue and then sprinkled over the top with scenic short grass.
I specifically left some uncoated areas to leave a patchy look after a spray coat of desert yellow.
Some small bits of cat litter was added at the same time to replicate small rocks.
The drums were from the Tamiya set.
I'm happy with the base as is so I will tidy around the side of it and then paint the surround hull red and then finish the sides off with a gloss coat.
The figures will be finished off.
Ropes to be added to the lean to.
Poles to get a tidy up.
Might faf around a bit more with the tarp cover.
More yellow in that fire.
Food in pan to be painted.
These can be picked at during the week and so by next weekend it should be all finished and that is when you will see the final photos....hopefully.

Great little diorama. Like the subtle weathering.

Re: Titan's Sdkfz. 232
Thanks all for the replies and I will call this one finished, a few more things could be done but I will leave as is for now.
The kit itself was a joy to build but the figures were real cruddy( that and I'm just rubbish at painting them) and I suppose they should be replaced with better sculpted ones...so I didn't really try very hard to make them look better as I knew I was on a loosing battle with them. for an old kit though this really is not half bad and if given another one to build it would be done without hesitation......save the figures of course. lol
I have only ever built a few Monogram kits but what I have built have been very nice builds this one being no exception.
thanks all for taking the time to look.

Wow, Mark, excellent build and an enjoyable read !
Vehicle + figures + base + sausages really sets a high bar from now on !

I really like this build Mark - it looks brilliant and a good example of what can be done with an old kit.
Great stuff and thanks for joining in!
Cheers
