Splash's little Heli Baby

Post by splash »

My subject for this GB is the AZ 1/72 HC-2 Heli Baby.

The kit is a multi media kit using plastic, resin, PE & a printed IP. I have never built a AZ kit but I gather they aren't bad kits.

First impressions are that its small and has fine detail and should be an enjoyable build.

OK it's out of the box and I'm ready to start separating the resin parts.

Very dainty. Looks quite a challenge. Just how small is it? Could you place a coin next to it to give some sort of reference?

I found a good use for my Scale Aircraft Modeling scale ruler, along part of one edge it has a saw that's useful for jobs like removing the surplus resin.

It's small as you can see when put next to a seaking

My first impressions are that this kit is similar to an Amodel's kit and will need lots of fettling to get it build. But the resin and PE will mean less scratch building required than a Amodel kit.

It's small but the resin has some nice detail like the quilting on the seats.

It is delicate isn't it, but nicely detailed. One could say "small but perfectly appointed" :) .

Make for an interesting comparison with the SARO Skeeter

That reminds me I have an Aeroclub Skeeter that I started 20 years ago in the stash, I will go and rake it out and see what it looks like.
