Toby's Albanian Mig twosome. FINISHED

Post by TobyC »

After my very enjoyable build of the 15bis I have got Mig 15itis so I'm building another HobbyBoss kit but this time it'll be the trainer version the UTI in Albanian markings.

Norman Wisdom would've approved

The comedian Norman Wisdom was a cult hero in Albania and one of his characters was Mr Grimsdale ;-)

Just done some dry fitting and the fuselage bottom half is badly warped. First time I've ever had a problem with a Hobbyboss kit. It's currently in a vice sitting under a lamp trying to reform it to the original shape.

That's a shame Toby. Never come across that with HB kits before & I love their two seater Mig-15.
Very nice decals set by the way. What make is it?

Blue Rider. I think it'll need a few coats of microsol to settle it down if it's like their other products. Not a problem though.

That looks good Toby - I think I may add a paper IP or some Random PE to my single seater...

I hope you get that bottom fuselage sorted.

Thanks Stuart. I think I've managed to save the day. Fits now with very little effort. In the end having strapped Leukosilk around it to hold it in place I wrapped it in some tissue paper and left it over night on a tepid radiator and it seems to softened and moulded to its original shape. Some filling may be needed but otherwise I'm quite happy with the outcome.

Good recovery Toby. Warped major components can be a pain in the btm, but you've pulled this one back into shape well :)
