That is a stonking build and a first rate tutorial on how to fettle this kit.

Why did they use a Shak for parachute trials?

Some of the chutes they tested were rather large drogue chutes for jet aircraft including TSR-2 and it needed to be an aircraft of a certain size and weight to safely do so.
