This little ship has an interesting history and has several owners over the years it's has been sunk, re-floated, beached, re-floated and modified over the years, more of its history to follow.

When I first saw this model I just thought it was just a small ferry that operated between Penzance and the Isles of Silly.

I now known that's not the case and in fact the little ship has had a real chequered career, taking it all over the world .

Whilst researching the History of the Queen of the Isles, I found this brilliant website dedicated to the little ship, that is well worth a visit as it tells you every thing there is about her http://www.queenoftheisles.com/index.html

Last night at midnight give or take 10 minutes I roughly cut out the basic shapes. looking at the card I have used I might need to double laminate it for things like the main decks.

Tonight I will tidy up the rough cut out and start the assembly.

The decking is on so its time to call it a night so as to let the glue set before I add the sides.

Dirk I find the paper kits quite therapeutic as I can build them in front of my TV on a tray. It makes a nice change from the filler sanding filler sanding filler sanding cycle.

The little Wren is the third one I have built, my wife belongs to the WRENS Assosiation so I have been asked by several of the members to make one for them. I might finish up going to one of their meetings a showing them how it's done so they can make their own.

I find it much the same, Splash...it's quite theraputic and relaxing sittung in front of the telly, cutting cutting away, trimming, tidying, then bending and folding...the way in which a paper model slowly appears from its 2D original form always fascinates me...

Coming together quickly Splash. Building ships whilst watching TV, who says men can't multi-task? You seem to have a nice side-line in the wren production as well, you should charge a small amount for your work and materials, after all printer ink is the most expensive fluid on Earth.

I'm looking to get one of the new Epson Printers that have refillable tanks. http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/epson-eco- ... rcial.html It looks like Epson have realised everyone is using alternative cheaper ink cartridges so dearer printers and cheap ink is the way to go, this suits me as it cost £60+ to top up my ink

I followed your link to the website of this ship and imagine to my surprise when I seen a familiar name Captain Eric Kemp, I knew the familly in the seventies, eighties and nineties as...1 His wife used to teach my class at my school...2. I Knew their son through my CBing days and so hung around together, and thus met Eric on quit a few occasions.

It's a small world that's for sure....

Nice progress with it so far Splash.

As Mark says its a really small world.

Progress is steady and it's starting to come together with no problems so far.

It looks like you can build this as a basic kit or you can add further detail, for example the Nav lights are marked as a black box but you can cut this out and construct a very small set of nav lights plus all the ships doors are printed on the bulkheads plus as separate items to add if you want to add further depth to the model.

I'm thinking the thickness of the card I have used is too thin so I might now use this as a test peice and re-print it on heavier card.
