I will be building the Star Trek Bridge, this is what the completed model should look like:

I have printed out the first 6 sheets onto 135msg paper, with the last sheet printed onto normal paper, as per the instructions.

This one certainly seems to be highly detailed, I look forward to seeing how it goes together.

Or you can get it direct from here: http://jleslie48.com/stbb/rel.html;

It will measure approx. 19 cms across and 5 cms high once complete.

I made a start by cutting out the parts for the raised deck;

and slowly putting them together, you can see how the two curved pieces create an overhanging lip:

I have also built up the one piece sunken deck:

This has taken quite a while as each section was glued and clamped together and left to dry before moving on to the next section. Unfortunately the glue has caused it to curl out of shape, so I am going to put a thicker piece of card onto the bottom to hold it in shape.

When I first saw what you are building, I thought those cross bases to the chairs would be hard to make, but I see they have used the cunning plan of printing them on the base.

Yes, thankfully, though the actual upright tube is made from this:

The thickness of each tube is 2/3 of a toothpick. :shock: I may have to resort to using a bit of painted wire. :-D

I think I would be tempted to use black painted tooth picks.

Here are the parts that make up the Command Module, comprising of Pedestal, Chair Support, Chair Platform and Chair Column;

I find it quite amazing how well designed these are, lets hope they all go together OK.

what sort of glue are you using? For those large areas, try woodworking PVA as this does not wap the paper/card in the same way as common household PVA, or, pretty much any glue that is not waterbased: a can of spray adhesive goes a long way and does not affect the material. You can also laminate by placing a layer of shrinkwrap between layers of paper/card and ironing it with a warm iron...yes really!
