Lancfan's Top Gear build ***FINISHED***

Post by lancfan »

I am a late starter on this but will begin soon with a selection of models from a pair of BBC Top Gear card model books in the stash.

Plenty of time, David...at least a month til Christmas (and we still have snow forecast here!!)...I think you've taken the lead for 'Most Unusual Subject'...do they come with little Clarkson,Hammond and May cutouts as a well...?

Having opened the kit I did not enjoy the build, in fact I wish I had not touched the kit at all. The model was meant for dry assembly with locking tabs, the card was very thin and was easily crushed which sometimes made locating the tabs a troublesome operation. The assemblies were not very rigid and some sections needed locking in place with cyano. although the artwork was very good the finished model was just crude. I will not build any more of these and will call it a day on this build.

 I have one of these in my stash so I think it might get moved to the bottom of the pile.

It has reminded me that I should finish my conversion of the Airfix Herald that I started a long time ago

I so totally missed your completions of this model while I was away last week...It still came out pretty good, David, and I would have to point out, remembering that episode quite vividly, that the shoddy design of the model is fairly true to the design philosophy of the original...

I hope that it hasn't put you off paper modelling and that we will see you have a crack at something else in the New Year...
