Who do that Voodoo that you do so well
OK all, got it down to 3 choices but can't decide which I should do. All are 1/72nd.
LS Rothman's Pitts Special
Hasagawa Red Baron F-104 Starfighter
Revell Hawk One Canada F-101B Voodoo
The Pitts is a very simple kit but the paint job is very complex and I have heard the nose decals are crap. Would maybe be interested in a different scheme if I could find some different decals. AZ and Platz both did this kit (I think using the same plastic as the LS kit) with multiple decal options so if someone has some leftovers they don't need...
The Starfighter kit needs to be painted red and then all the markings are decals. Not sure how I feel about all those white decals over red but will see how it goes. Never built the Hasagawa kit but haven't heard any bad things about it.
The Voodoo is one I have wanted to do since I saw the original plane at a Big Sky Air Show in the mid 70s. I have had the Microscale decals forever and finally found the kit a year or so back.
So, what do you lot think?

The Voodoo. It's a no brainer. Very rarely seen

Re: Who do that Voodoo that you do so well
Ok, giving into peer pressure I will do the F-101.
Dug the kit out of the stash and looking at the instructions now. Got to find the decals but think I know where they ended up.
Might not get to it this week as still have a couple Review builds I need to put time into and a couple builds for Christmas presents (if they get done) but excited to try and get this one done so will see how it goes.
Here are the pics I took of this bird back in the mid 70's.
The Falcons are different than what comes in the kit so have to check my 106 and 102 kits to see if I have any that look like these. They are blue with white noses.
Not sure if I will try and add the helmet, oxygen mask and bag to the build but will see.
Notice the lifevest and what may be a coat in the rear cockpit.
The instructions call for this piece to be Gun Metal but definitely looks more like brass to me.

Re: Who do that Voodoo that you do so well
I look forward to seeing this build.
Having worked on a/c with ejection seats my pulse increased when I saw the image of the may west hanging over the top of the bang seat, that is a disaster waiting to happen at Yeovilton Airday one year we lost a Harrier pilot, after his display. All the safety pins had been fitted, but his lower seat harness was routed wrong, when he climbed out and stood on the harness it pulled the cable below the pin and fired the seat with tragic consequences.

My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

It looks like a nifty project, surely deserving to go ahead of some old review builds

It's my model and I'll do what I want with it.

Re: Who do that Voodoo that you do so well
I found the decal sheet and of course, it is for the later version so have to change the tail number and modify the beak but should be ok. Been cleaning out the model room (was my deceased son's room) and packing up his stuff to donate so kind of took the wind out of my sails.
Still, hoping to get to the cockpit this weekend and maybe get the main build done before heading to Vegas on Tuesday.
