I'll be interested watching this. I always liked those rocket tube fitted Shermans for some reason.

Hello Everyone,

Some progress, not a bad kit to be honest although the instructions could have more information for where to put the holes.

Thanks, Ryan

I've just acquired this kit myself but I doubt that it will be built yet, yours seems to be building quickly so that's a good sign.

You could easily do the body and tracks in less than a day, and I haven't used an air brush . The launcher and turret takes longer and I find it's easier to paint all that on the sprue before gluing it all together.

Hello everyone,

The Sherman is finished! Here's the last few steps,

The body of the tank was finished,

Image

Then I did the holes for the launcher to attach to the turret. It was done about 4mm from the base of the turret with a 1mm drill bit.

Image

Then the launcher was attached to the turret,

Image

Although I think I had it in the wrong place because it kept falling off, so with the other Calliope I was doing for Jet Age Museum I moved it slightly forward and thus it stopped falling off.

Here's a comparison, with mine being the top one,

Thanks, Ryan

Nice one Ryan, very smart. I have one of these in 1/35 which your build has inspired me to dust off and have a go at. I hope you enjoyed your first GB, and look forward to seeing more of your work in future group builds.

Great result!

I wouldn't have fancied being on the receiving end of that little lot!
Best wishes

A successful first GB Ryan and you've made a great job of that. The Calliope is a fascinating version of the Sherman and I have a Revell 1/35th example in the stash that I aim to build at some point next year.
