Dragon Churchill NA 75***Finished***

Post by Kitaholic »

Since it looks like the tracks for my IT-1 Drakon aren't going to get here any time soon, going to get started on this one. The Churchill MkIV NA 75 by Dragon in 1/72 ( kit # 7507)

The suspension looks a little bit easier than the Airfix one ;-)

Yes the running gear is one heck of a lot easier than the Airfix one but there are some typically Dragon issues with the instructions.
For the front wheels they would have you put A24 and A25 together, wrong, it's A24 and A27
For the rear wheels they would have you put A25 and A27 together, A27 is A28 and A28 is A25
The inner running gear are correct but the numbers for the outer wheels is reversed, should be B2 left and B1 right
Also lots of silly fit issues that I wouldn't expect from a state of the art, modern and (for it's scale) fairly pricey kit, main area being the front glacis fit, lots of sanding and dry fitting.
Worst part though is the Sherman mantlet, way too big, protruding over the top of the turret but I decided to leave as is as I would of have to cut it in half horizontally, remove approx. 1.5mm from the centre and reshape.
These are minor niggles though, it is a GREAT little kit.
Extra track for the makeshift armour came from the kit by cutting off the excess track going over the top as this is not visible and therefore wasted.
Off to paint it now

Nice Kit. Looks like a sweet build.

Looking good. Is there much detail inside the turret itself?

Nothing inside the turret, so I've put a shelf in to mount a commander from Millicast

That looks great and to me has captured this charismatic vehicle very well. There's some great looking detail on there that the painting has really brought out.
