This GB is for Twin prop-engine bombers - medium, attack, whatever - but it must be a bomber. It could include the "heavies" of WW1 and 'tween wars which rarely had more than 2 engines. Any era, any kit, any scale, etc ....
This GB started from a thread here.
The GB runs from January 1st to 31st; your GBL is fredk, assisted by PaulBradley, who will fill in any other info.

Welcome to the Twin prop/Twin engine Bomber GB.
When you've decided what to build just go and start a thread and show us how you get on.
Although the GB starts on January 1st you can join in at any time.
Build at your own pace, its not a race.
I'm looking forward to seeing what different kits are going to be built, and the different treatments of any builds which are the same.
I intend to attempt [dramatic drum roll] an old............Airfix............Dornier 17E ! ta-da.

Hi Fred
Looking forward to this as it will be my second twin I've made after the Whirlwind I did earlier this year.

I'm in for this one with a true classic of aviation - the Heinkel 111.
It's the Airfix H-20 version, and I've never built one. I hope it's not going to give me many issues!

A great range already. I'm surprised by just how many kits fit this category. I have several, but brought it down to to just the Do17. Now I'm wondering if I can fit in a Po-2 as well. With my recent track record of GB finishes theres no harm in dreaming.

I'm not sure how I missed this GB being set up but I hope its not too late to join the party. Thinking of a Matchbox Wellington in CC markings.

Too late!? We haven't even started yet
Welcome, bring in your Wimpey.
I built the Matchbox one a couple of years ago, I found it a fine, fuss free kit to build.
Molly-new; are you going to replace the machineguns with bits of wood painted black?

Re: Sign-up and Chat
Is this a strictly land-based build or are sea-based patrol bombers allowed? I was thinking about building a Martin Patrol-Bomber, medium range, PBM-5A, Class VPB.
On second thoughts, let's not go to Camelot. It is a silly place!

Hi Chuck; the only criteria is 'pure bomber'; if it was designed to drop heavy nasty stuff on an enemy then its in.
Welcome aboard.

Brilliant thanks Fred I'll be building it as a Mk.X but in EDSG/DSG over white as a 311 squadron aircraft, I've already got a Mk.XIV in similar markings that I did a couple of years ago and have always wanted to get round to completing another; so, perfect excuse plus its a Matchbox kit so should be a pleasant way to shift the post holiday season modelling doldrums.
I'll get my thread set up tomorrow afternoon after work.

Re: Sign-up and Chat
Would you post up a picture of the Mk.XIV in the 'Prevoiusly-built models' section please, if you can. I did mine as a regular bomber, I'd like to see what the XIV looks like in finished mode.TomW wrote:I'll be building it as a Mk.X but in EDSG/DSG over white as a 311 squadron aircraft, I've already got a Mk.XIV in similar markings ...

According to Steve Ginter in his book "Martin PBM Mariner" p.69, The Mariner was designed to carry out the bombing mission with 8-1,000 lb bombs. Other US Navy twin engine aircraft with a designated bombing mission included:
North American PBJ-1 Mitchell (USN version of B-25 Mitchell)
Consolidated PBY Catalina
Lockheed PBO-1 Hudson
If allowed, I will build a PBM-5A Mariner patrol bomber.
