I was tempted to see if I could retro-fit the earlier-style gun emplacement and turn it into a Battle of Britain-era Heinkel, but I've no idea if I would have to do anything else to it!

Re: Daz's Heinkel
I built one of these as a young one and don't remember any problems with it.
As well as replacing the turret how about replacing the engines with the outers from an Airfix Lanc and making it a BoB film Heinkel? maybe too much work for the length of the GB though?
All the best.

A CASA conversion did cross my mind, but I've no spare Lanc engines to offer!
Nevermind, it's still a Heinkel!

Re: Daz's Heinkel
There are a few minor differences to the engines betwixt this kit version and a BoB one. I have a magazine article which goes through the conversion, I'll see if I can find it and share it with you.
For the sliding perspex gunner's cover you can either crash mould one or look for clear vac-formed packaging for the shape.

Re: Daz's Heinkel
I found the magazine [January 1969]. To convert it to a BoB version it says it needs the top sliding gunner's cover, a clear front on the belly gondola and ejector type exhausts.

Re: Daz's Heinkel
Is there anything like a conversion set for that kind of thing, or would it be a spares box job?

Re: Daz's Heinkel
I think;
if you have a very good spares box you might find something, or a good search through clear vac formed packaging might give up some plastic the right shape for the clear parts otherwise it'll have to be balsa shapes crash moulded into clear plastic.
The exhaust ejectors are the saw tooth type as on Messerschmitt 109s. If you don't have spares, one could make a mould and copy a set from a 109 or something similar.
An easy way to make a one-off mould is to press the part into plasticene. Freeze the plasticene, remove the model part, and fill the hole with resin. When resin is set, remove plasticene and wash any bits off with soapy water.
Or use Milliput as the female mould part.

Hmm.
Might give it a shot, but if not it'll just be a bog standard H-20!

Re: Daz's Heinkel
If you choose to do a CASA variant Daz you are in luck as far as Lanc Merlins go. That heap of old models and parts I bought a few weeks ago has a pair, and I think I may be able to find all the accompanying blades too. Just sayin`......

Hmm.
If you happen to have the appropriate gun turret glazing as well, then it's game on!

Re: Daz's Heinkel
The glazing for the dorsal turret? Afraid not, but as an earlier poster suggested, finding a suitably curved piece of clear plastic packaging and cutting it to fit is a good alternative.
