The angle looks good but it has left a couple of areas that require filling on the wing roots

Its always better to fill than have wonky wings

Too true Tom, and they were not too difficult to fill, I just put a layer of PVA on the joints and smoothed out with a wet finger, job done.

Whilst I had the PVA out I attached the clear parts to the front:

Prior to attaching the engines I filled them with lead but it was still not enough to prevent it from tail sitting. I therefore removed the weight and will go for plan 'B', and use the snazzy tail support that is supplied:

Next task is to mask it up and start painting.

Chip,

This model does indeed like sitting on its tail. I also had exactly the same issue with the wing fit.

Martin

Glad to know it isn't me then. :-D

 Ooer misses. :-D

Over the weekend I have managed to get this painted up, and I am pleased to say that the windows stayed in place and remained clear.

A bit of touching up to do, and I need to scratch build a central ae as I lost it in the painting process. I know, I know, "I should leave the smaller bits off till after painting" but I always think I will be careful enough. :???:

Thats looking very smart. Very clear cockpit glazing.

A thought; If you were tempted to do a 'diorama' type display; get a civie window cleaner with ladder, attach [need not be permanent] him to the rear turret for him to be polishing the perspex. Holds tail up and looks the part.
A civie window cleaner can be bought via many model railway shops.

Now that is a good idea, certainly something to bear in mind for the future, but I will stick with the supplied support for now.

I am in the process of doing the glazing strips at the moment using painted tape, very fiddly but easier than trying to mask them up.

I seem to have lost the pitot tube somewhere. Looking at the previous two photos it was there prior to painting, evidently the carpet monster has a thing for thin rods of plastic. I will replace it with a bit of metal rod.

I think I'll be using a mix of painted decal strip and hand painting on the beetle eye nose of my Dornier.

The glazing has been completed, and a coat of klear applied in readiness for the decals:

Next step is to paint on the deicing boots on the wings, followed by decals and all the bits I have managed to knock off.

That is looking really good. Out of curiosity, what is your technique for doing canopy frames? I am leaning towards painted decal strip for mine these days.
