Shane's Matchbox Marauder.

Post by shangos70 »

Hi all , a bit late to the party but here is my entry for the GB.
Matchbox Marauder in its multicolour glory. I'm not sure what markings to use as the ones in the kit are a little off colour and the white doesn't look very opaque on the stripes. I have the old Revell rivet festooned version and may use those markings for a French aircraft just for a little bit of difference. The guns in the Revell kit are perforated and look better than the rods in the MB kit.

Great choice. I was hoping somebody would do one of these.

I was going to!!!. But the wimpy called me. Perhaps if the 747 in the Bright and Cheery GB is done today/tomorrow I can do this one too. As long as Shangos doesn't mind!!.
(I'm only saying this because the popular vote from my choices was this one but I defied them and picked the Wellington!)
Hoping to return to modelling sometime this year!!

Knock yourself out matey.
I've put together all the major subsections. The undercarriage doors were not really made for wheels up. Some fettling needed. Hope to get some interior paint on tomorrow now that the festivities are over.

Interior painting has been done and the fuselage sealed up. I'm not adding any detail as it won't be seen. The wings and nacelles have been built and I'm in the process off sanding the joins along with the fuselage ones. Wheels up on a stick will save faffing with noseweight and the lack of detail in the main bays. However the nose bay has some nice detail. Still undecided whether to go wit the sharkmouth and risk the Mbox decals or go for a Free French bird. Both are nmf with olive drab panels on the nacelles so I can wait til the end.

You're getting on fast with this.
If your Matchbox decals are a bit iffy, a couple of coats of Liquid Decal Film can help, perhaps, to save them.

The fuselage and wings are primed, aircrew are seated . I've masked the canopy glazing, just the nose to mask. I will leave the tail and dorsal canopies off until its almost done. The inner faces of the nacelles have had a coat of olive drab. I may mask and paint the D-Day stripes and go with the box art sharkmouth.

I think that would look really cool in that scheme like the boxart.
