Yeah it didn't go quite as well as I planned

As I mentioned on the Matchbox Wellington thread I've been battling man-flu and work to get some bench time this week so not a huge amount of progress. The wings are coming together and some filler has been applied to the very slight seam lines:

Once the wings are together and joined to the fuselage then the pace should pick up.

So I've spent today working on the wings and seams on the Wellington. And then because I was feeling pleased with progress I decided to get it all slapped together ;-) :

Next up is masking and getting the white coat sprayed on.

Looking great. Do you realise how much will power it is now taking not to go and get one now? ;-)

Thanks guys  I'm quite tempted to get another myself, probably a GR.XIV . It is a very nice kit though the wing engineering necessitates careful construction in that area.

Okay so I said the next step was masking but I might have told a porky pie with that; realised that masking would be a lot easier if I attached a few more parts to the airframe:

Now she's ready for making and the paintshop. Which incidentally is where she is now ;-) :

I've learnt my lesson from the turret mishap in the Matchbox build and plugged every gap and hole I could find in the airframe first. Only time will tell if I got them all

Update time (and only a day later than promised :ha: ) all three main colours are on and nearly dry:

I've painted the collector rings since these photo's were taken this morning; I'll need to fit the remaining glazing and paint the framing before I can move on to Klear coats and decals. 6 days left but I think I'll get this one home before dawn

Painted the framing around all the fuselage windows this morning so I could get a move on with the Klear coats this afternoon. Once that had all dried nicely I decided to crack on with the decals whilst I still had daylight to work with (I'm back to work on lates from tomorrow so really needed to break the back of this build). This is how the Welly looks this evening:

Actually I've fitted the props and exhausts since I took the photo but you get the idea ;-) . I'll move on to canopy and turret framing over the next couple of days and then its just the sticky out bits.

Very smart Tom. I am tempted to get one of these for myself now, just not sure if I have anywhere big enough to display it once finished.
