Looks tidy!

I'm intrigued by the circular shadows in the overspray? Was that a lot of things all the same?
Best wishes

Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

Thanks for the nice comments.

I believe they are from when I did the wheels for a Merkava in the 'Tanks' GB last year.

Whilst touching up the paintwork I realised that I had not done anything about FROG's poor representation of the exhausts:

I am not going to drill it out or sand it back at this late stage so I need to think of a more cunning plan.

What about cutting some large diameter tubing at a slant angle, squishing oval a bit and superglueing on?

Just a thoought.

Thanks for the idea Fred, one to ponder on.

Whilst looking at the decal guide it suddenly dawned on me that the RAAF version that I had intended doing has got a painted over nose.

Image

After the work I have put in on this area I was not going to paint over it so I have had a search around the web and decided on a scheme that I have decals for in the spares box, namely W8315/RH-D from 88 Sqn:

Image

Decals are currently being applied;

but all are not behaving as they should:

Image

I will leave it to dry and then give it a coat of DecalFix to see if it will settle down. I do not have any letters 'H' either, so will be creating some out of painted decal strips:

First time I have done this so it will be interesting to see whether or not it works.

Hi Chip,

The Boston's still looking good.

Re the jigsaw puzzle 'H', just take it slowly, maybe only doing a couple of pieces in a session and letting them dry between sessions, and you'll be fine.

regards,

Martin

The 'H's went on OK, they needed a bit of touching up but at least it is yet another new skill/technique to add to the drawer.

After a good weekend tweaking away at the remaining little finishing bits I am calling this one done.

The colour of the paint that I used to touch up the decals was not an exact match, so I decided to add quite a bit of weathering to it using pastel chalks. The aerial wire was added from EZ Line, and two new prop-blurs were needed as the original two were too large and hit the fuselage when fitted.

The final decision with the exhausts was to paint the oval part black and add plenty of staining.

Apart from the poor exhaust representation this is a nice basic kit to build, and could be super-detailed quite easily if you had the time.

Top result there Chip, and great to see it posed on a Skybase just like a FROG kit should be

Very nicely done, Chip. I do like that.

Although I am concerned about what manoeuvre the Boston is supposed to be doing: pitching up, rolling right and yawing left.

Looks great. Nicely weathered. The exhausts looks fine and it's in-flight on a Skybase - can't ask for more appealing to my eyes than that!
