Kits released in **** year / or in catalogue for **** year

Post by chrism »

I trust it is OK for me to suggest something.

What about nominating "a year" and what year it is could be say 1965 (which would be 50 years past this year) ... or it could be any other year that someone or a committee vote nominates, and then you set about building/displaying kits from any of the manufacturers Airfix, Matchbox, etc etc that were originally released in that year.

If that option sounds a tad restrictive, extend it to whatever was in the respective manufacturers catalogue in the nominated year. It might be that whatever kits one builds, wants to source is/are still being released now like some of the Airfix kits are. It then offers/opens up your display to the different genres of planes, vehicles, little people, boats etc.

An interesting idea, Chris, but we re-created the Airfix 1977 catalogue cover as our first display back in '07. This might be too similar.

This idea could be developed a little further. IIRC the Classic part of CBK was kits of 25 years (and older) vintage. So choose a year before 1991 and show any models of kits that appeared in British manufacturer's catalogues for that year! This will encompass all genres and multiple manufacturers - would it be possible to select a year when Airfix, Matchbox and Frog (and maybe others) were all in business?
All models are equal. Some models are more equal than others.
