I've only just noticed on the Deltic that the buffers are missing Splash - do you have them somewhere?! Spot on with the colour as well - check out the original here from a 1950s colour film on British locomotives (FF to 17:30):

Cheers for the link it's shown me how dirty the roof of the Deltics got. I have the buffers ready to go on at a later stage.

Quick update.

Image

I was stuck on what colours to do the garage in, then came up with a cunning plan. Having discovered the scalescenes website full of print your own card buildings, I spotted they sell scale brick paper. So after a simple purchase and download of the PDF file and a couple of minutes to print out a sheet of bricks and some simple fun with PVA glue and a hobby knife I'm at this stage.

They both look brilliant Alan, I especially like the brickwork - looks almost real.

Cheers.

It was quick and easy and quite effective, I have just added the old kitmaster decals to the Deltic and to my surprise they went on with no problems and look quite good.

A great pair Splash and I agree, the brickwork paper looks very effective on the garage - good idea that!

Re the Deltic decals - I had a similar pleasant surprise with my Class 9F, the decals didn't look up to much on the sheet but were excellent to use.
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Your garage cum second-hand shop looks dapper with that brickwork. Thanks for photo of the crane and I should be able to match it sort-of. I've splashed some paint round on the other one and used a green on cab, and mixed a couple of old pots of grey together for the rest... once its all dry I'll reveal the state of play tomorrow and take photo in daylight.

Cheers Tom I will get in contact to arrange a meet.

Today I have spent a plesant session on the bench adding handrails to the turntable using thin copper wire and covering the turntable, crane garage and other kits in a brown wash.

Having seen Chris' excellent dockside crane I realised mine was still to clean so thats now been dirtied up and just needs the handrails adding and the jib rigged (I think I might cheat and use copper wire it depends on how it looks)

I had toyed with wire - but as I know if you get a kink in it, it can be harder to deal with and de-kink, whereas thread just flops till you are happy with it and strengthen it with glue.

Thanks for your kind words - I am pleased you approve of how I tackled your kit.

This lot is about finished, most just need minor fixtures and fittings, the garage/shop needs fitting out, but they will all be ready in time.
