Here is the 2x Train Shed for your comments/suggestions.
After that, all I have left is to put a dull coat on it and install the window glass.

They look great John, very nicely painted and weathered, I think you've captured the look of a grimy industrial engine shed very well.

Your train shed looks the part. Well done. Very reminiscent of what I remember walking past on my way home from school.

That looks superb John. Would you let me have the overall length and width please so I can work out where to place it on the layout - things are looking very tight already but if I have to sacrifice a siding road to accommodate your shed then them's the breaks!

Cheers

Al,
Your drawings have always had the long shed up on one siding in the static yard by the turntable, or has that design changed?

Anyway, it is 12-1/4" long x 3-1/4" wide. The lamps add about 1/4" on each side, but if above the cars on an adjoining track then no problem or just knock them off. The front doors add about 1/2" to each side if flung wide open, but they are movable so you can probably fudge it. If the shed on the back is taken off, it reduces length to 11-1/4", but I need to know ASAP because I'll need to repair the brick and put doors on. I'll hold off on the final coat and installing windows until I hear back.

BTW, tomorrow is dedicated to lining on all the coaches, maybe even serials and other lettering. I am now in scramble mode but most of my time is free through the next week (yes, dear, just as soon as I can...).

To be perfectly honest John once I started laying track I forgot about some of the detail on the drawing - at the moment the shed will go where it is shown but another look at the drawing has highlighted that there is currently no room for the turntable - something I will address over the weekend, so thanks for the reminder! I wonder if I.K. Brunel had these kinds of challenges to overcome  :ha:

Lining and other decals are on. Today's goal is to not screw all that up while applying a clear coat.

While watching clear dry  I'm mass cutting all my figures, baggage, and goods packages. Tomorrow will be installing windows and erecting walls and ends. Tuesday will be fitting interiors, and so on ....

Meanwhile, I need three things:
-- what support stuff do you want from me - box art, boxes, instructions, etc, etc ?
-- Matt, any special instructions I should put on my package, such as "leave next door if not home" ?
-- Al, take the wood shed off the back of the engine shed or leave it on ?

Unfortunately I think it will have to be off please John, but if you send it detached and there is room then I can reattach it or just butt joint it up against the back wall (but I think it is going to be a tight fit).

OK, /sobbing icon/ :)

Anyway, here are the coach sides, painted, lined, numbered, and coated .... I'm sure they will look much better if Al can just keep them moving on the tracks .... The lettering on the blood/custard look a bit washed out ....

Tomorrow, once I get the shed modified, I'll be doing windows on the coaches and maybe starting car assembly.

First, Train Shed Mk.II is done. The offending shack has been removed from the backside and doors installed. Also, all windows have "glass". Shaun, check this one off.

Next, the coaches ....

Truck (bogey) farm ... I think the wheels are a bit loose, pull slowly ....

Image

One side and both ends on, now installing the card interiors.

Image

Now the luggage racks go on. Note the fake travel stuff in them - and for most, if you look underneath you can "see" the stuff through the mesh.

Image

Now the last side is put on ....

Image

Al/Beany - take a look. This is the cutaway you wanted; I'll populate it with people.

Image

I have a lot to do to get compartments lined up and coaches side/end edges glued down. I forgot this from the 2nd brake I did before, but next time I am going to throw out the Peco instructions and do things differently. The current ones have you building the corridor side and the ends then closing up with the compartment side. Next time, I build the compartment side and both ends, then lay down the card floor, then build the compartments against the coach wall so they are tight.

Anyway, I have about 2-1/2, maybe 3, days free and that should be plenty of time. All the people and gear are cut-out and ready to put in. I should be able to get the interiors square tomorrow.

I'm a bit concerned, as usual, about the roofs sitting on decently - I may have to tack a couple down just to avoid ugly or I may include a roll of "invisible tape" and let you manage them.

There will be touchup paint on the ends.

Windows were pressed in with PVA but it's easy to pop one, be careful.

I have a mailing box, bubble-wrap, etc, and will be standing at the PO door at 9am Monday unless something really goes wrong.

PS: Big idea cut-off is past, but is you have any suggestions, etc, pass 'em on. I still need to know if you want any support stuff sent along.
