I made a cursory start on the Prairie; fortunately the only handrails are along the smoke box, so I have a before and after
of the moulded handrail removal here:


the handrail will need to be bent into an arc over the smokebox door however so I will use brass rod and try and do both
sides and the front in one piece.

As for the underframes - can we say "warped" together folks...


I'm off to Wales tomorrow on holiday so no more updates for a week I'm afraid.

Her is a comparison between my old Tri-ang Hornby BoB Class (front) and the static Dapol offering. The Tri-ang was given to me for Christmas in about 1969 when my father brought a train sets from one of my cousins which I previously had played with at my Grandmothers house anyway (the highlight of any visit there!), so it probably dates back to the early or mid-60s. It is very play worn these days and has been repainted by me many years ago, and was the basis for the paint job I did on the Dapol example. The job now is to carefully prise the body off of the Dapol to mount it on the Tri-ang chassis (which still goes like a train after a good service and lube) for use in the display. I should have purchased another Airfix or Dapol example for this but broke the budget for this years display way back...

Talk about lastminute.com - I was looking at the Airfix station platforms box art on Sunday evening and realised that I
had completely forgotten about the station canopy. I found one for a good BIN price on eBay and ordered it with
fingers crossed it would get here before Thursday - turned up this morning (Wednesday) so it may appear sans paint
but at least it will appear!
