I'm in control here (as soon as I can get 8 HP11 batteries)

Post by beany »

First of the two types of controllers has arrived. I didn't even know this type existed until I happened across it on eBay. It takes 8 HP11 type batteries (=12v) which I'll have to source (probably from the Pound Shop/Land/World or even Halfords at a push, to keep the cost down).
I'll have to extend the wires to the track obviously to enable Joe Public to pick up the controller and drive the trains at SMW. At least I'll have fun testing it.
It will also be a good comparison with the Hornby single large 6V battery style controller when that arrives (it was due today).

HP11 can be expensive and short lived. One can get adapter tubes to make HP7/AA/R6 batteries up to HP11/C/R14.
eg; Zinc carbon C batteries; 2 for £1 at Poundworld, 6 or 8 Alkaline AA batteries same price. The adapters are not too expensive and do make it worth using.
Al speling misteaks aer all mi own werk..
Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.
