2015 Display T-shirts

Post by mattbacon »

Hi, all... it's that time of year when a chap's thoughts turn to T-shirts. A few proposals for your consideration and comment!

It turns out that the Kitmaster and traditional Airfix logos combine quite nicely, with a CBK spin:

I like the simplicity of the first, but I'm not quite sure that the Kitmaster ribbon reads as the K of CBK clearly. Putting the K in makes it more fussy, but clearer. The blue is the Kitmaster box colour -- it may not help the K, but it gives another nice colour!

Thinking about the "on tracks" theme resulted in this alternative logo:

It doesn't quite have the impact of the Airfix/Kitmaster version, but I think it does say CBK. This is mocked up in Powerpoint, and I'd do a better job if we went this route!

And finally...

The idea behind this is to create a nostalgic Art Deco railway poster feel. To do it properly, I'd scan actual box arts and combine the images rather better than I have in this proof of concept. We'd need to work on the text to get that "See Scarborough by Rail" feel and make it look more like an actual poster. I do like this one, but it's a challenge, so I might give it a go and keep one of the others as a fall-back option just in case.

Of course, you may not like any of them, or someone else may have a better idea! Have it it, all...

bestest,
M.

I like this image very much Matt, but I'm not sure if the wording does justice to the other CBK manufacturer that will be represented in the display?

The typeface used in the old railway posters was Gill Sans - always a favourite of mine.

I like the middle (visible-K) option of the first three, the 2nd 'goes loco' of the following pair, and of course the last one, which may be my favorite.

I think it valid that if we cannot mention them all on display, then we might want to mention none unless we could modify to something like "Airfix, Kitmaster, and others" ....

Good work.

Oh man, a fashion designer in our midst! T-shirts are a great idea. Certainly I like the visible K on the signal design shirt and I also like the poster idea. Faced with a choice I would probably go with the signal. Wording wise, I agree it's perhaps better to mention all or none. Top work though Matt.

I've taken a unilateral decision and printed myself a T-shirt!

What the well-dressed CBKer will be wearing to the ball (OK, it's dinner with Al and our other classic plastic friends, but what the heck..!)

I'm not feeling as smug about it as I look, honest...

Brilliant Matt. You forgot to adopt the classic catalogue "pointing into the distance" pose though :ha:

Regarding our display this year, I have decided that I will respond calmly and politely to the first three people who, no doubt nasally and condescendingly, opine "A-hem, this isn't a model railway show you know...?!"

however,

the fourth and subsequent occasions will command this response:

Can't wait
