Daz's private Spitfire - **FINISHED**
What's this?? ANOTHER Spit?!
Yes, I'm afraid it is! This time, it'll be the all-over NMF Spitfire IX as used by Tom Neil, and described in his book:

Re: Daz's private Spitfire
Just Finished reading that Daz. A bit disappointment really, not enough Spitfire flying for my tastes.
What kit will you be using and scale?
I am sure someone on this forum has done one before but I can't remember who. Sorry whoever you are.

I'll be using the old-tool Airfix kit for this one, 1/72 scale.
I remember someone else had built this one before, but I also can't recall who did it!

My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

I'm bumping this one up to take the place of the two Mk.Ias that I had planned to do.
This one being all-over silver, it should be a piece of the proverbial...!

I don't think I've ever seen anyone build a Spitfire on this forum. So well done to you for giving one a bash old chap. It's my day orf tomorrow so I'll try and watch. It's made my day. A Spitfire. Wait till I tell the wife, she will be so excited. It's not Christmas or my birthday, but when she's in that frame of mind I might strike it lucky - it will be something private although nothing to do with Spitfires I'm afraid. And it will all be thanks to you. Sir, I salute your valiant effort. 'Till the morrow then.

I will be checking in on this one. Can't remember when the last Spitfire was built around here.
Besting 60 years of mediocre building of average kits in the stand off scale

If you can walk away from a landing, it's a good landing. If you use the airplane the next day, it's an outstanding landing

Getting ready to kick off....
So, bang on 9am, I separated the fuselage halves from the sprues to get to work on them.
Four minutes later, the innards were painted:
I really must clean my Hudl screen....

Getting the propeller sorted:
That be that then!
Putting the fuselage together:
Like so:
I'll put it to one side while I have a cuppa, a slice of cake, and the Father Ted episode "Speed 3".
