Re: Lancfan's Dayglo'd Silver Chipmunk **JANUARY 31, 11.00 A
The nose has been detailed and the wing has been unmasked and rubbed down ready to be fitted to the fuselage later, having waited for the thickly painted wing to dry I am now waiting for the glue to dry on the nose/fuselage joint.

The nose has dried and the wing has been dry fitted and adjusted at the trailing edge root, the cockpit is the next area to need attention. I am going to try a different method to my last Chipmunk by filling the cockpit area with car filler and then milling out the seats and floor. this shot shows the fuselage dry fitted to the wing with the cockpit area full of freshly mixed, drying filler.

Great stuff. Going strong.
I'll mention something, you may know it but others reading this might not.
On the RAF canopy the line in the centre rear is a support inside the canopy, not a frame on the outside.
If one doesn't want to remove it and repolish the canopy, it does look nearly proper if its painted interior dark grey on the inside of the canopy before the canopy is put on.

Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

The block of filler has been removed from the fuselage and glued to the wing.
The seats were then milled out using my hobby drill, they do look strange but they also match the full-size seat buckets well enough for this size of model.

Thanks shaun, the cockpit has been painted and I'm fitting the straps ATM, once that is done and the wing has been glued in place the rest is a piece of cake.

The cockpit is finished (as far as it needs to be) and the wing has been joined to the fuselage, when the glue is dry final assembly and painting can begin.

Excellent as usual.
I do note in your initial photo, there are more tools than kit parts on your bench
When you have time, perhaps after finishing, could you explain the engine rework in more detail - I don't know enough about a normal Chipmunk or the BBMF one to figure out what is going on ....
