Re: Miguelito's Airfix Fiat G.91R - STARTED Feb 5 - 8:47pm
Good morning (afternoon)! I got the primer on, and even a coat of the light blue underside. Still a bit of clean up along seams, and where I put my thumb print on the underside of both horizontal stabilizers . Nothing too daunting or unexpected...other than the thumbprints, I guess that's one of the risks of doing this at 1am.
It's always a relief to see that it's not a tail-sitter. Although, I figured I was safe with the amount of weight I stuck underneath the pilot. It's just sitting on the gear, which is held in place with blue-tac.
Just going to clean these seams, get another light coat of light blue on, then grab a bite to eat...AND find the cord to transfer a few of last night's photos over. Nothing helps get my morning moving, like a little Iron Maiden.

I got the pictures off of my camera, so let's go back in time to about 13 hours ago. A good Blitz needs good food to sustain the modeler, what goes better with a nice beer, than some nutella? Gotta make sure I keep the carbs up for energy.
The "cockpit" is completed. I think at normal viewing distance, the pilot will look passable.
Then the fuselage went together and I realized I was missing the SD card.
The underside is painted, so now I'll let it dry a little longer and while that is happening, I'll focus on cleaning up and assembling the landing gear and drop tanks.

Nutella and beer?
The kit on the other hand is getting lovelier by the hour!
Hope the Cajun was good

Alright, I think I'm in the home stretch. After a delicious shrimp po'boy for lunch (aka fried shrimp sandwich), I got back to work and applied some masking.
Then sprayed some sea grey.
Then pulled back the tape to reveal.
Feeling good about this one now, and I'm glad half the paint didn't peel off when I pulled back the mask. Just one more color (black anti-glare), decals, and fiddly bits underneath and I can call this one complete.

Very nice blitz build.
Not sure about the beer & Nutella though.
You chaps in the colonies are definitely a bit odd.

Real smooth work.

It's getting closer still. Standing on it's own three feet with just five pieces of wheel covers left to apply. Then onto decals and the finish.
Of course, it couldn't go smooth. While removing the frame masking, the glue and paint came with the mask. So a little more touch up was needed.
Oh yeah, and is this better? Beer, models, andchips...er crisps.

It's finished! With less than a minute to spare, I finished my little Gina. I under-estimated the number of decals it had and they took longer than expected, but I got it finished on time (barely). Pictures to follow.

I was happily (sort of) applying decals to the Fiat and was just about done with the port side, when I looked at the clock and realized that I only had 20 minutes left!
You'll note, that even my pilot seems to have a happy look on his face. I still had the underside, top, and right side of the plane to finish decaling. Here is the plane with less than 10 minutes left on the timer.
With a little fiddling, I finally got all of the two-part insignia decals (top and bottom) lined up and finished just in the nick of time.
It was actually a nice kit to build. Definitely a great started kit that builds up easily and has a pretty decent fit. Now onto the next one!
