Scheisse!!!!!
Trying to squeeze out some terracotta for the underside. Guess I squeezed too hard. It exploded. I have paint everywhere. House looks like a scene from CSI!

All cleaned.
40 mins to go.
It's on it's base but I have the props and rudders to add as well as some painting topside.
It's going to be rubbish but I might just get it done!

Despite needing all the black stripes touching up, especially on the torpedo tubes, it is actually done! On time!

Everything is on and everything is painted. Some of the glue and paint is still wet!
Needs a coat of matt, but essentially I'm there!
Time for a cuppa and a calm down. Last couple of hours have been frantic.....

Wow Ian that is an impressive build by any standards but to do it in a Blitbau is amazing.

Bravo sir. :wanw

Well done. One challenge that will be hard to beat.

Thanks chaps.
I've had an hour to calm down now and I feel better about it than I did earlier.
Yes, the black/white on the torpedo tubes is a mess. And some on the hull too. But that was because I used something other than Tamiya tape and it didn't adhere as well. Lesson learned! I was delayed at the start by the deck not sticking to the hull properly. No idea why that was the case but it delayed the filling and sanding on the starboard side by over an hour. This meant that I couldn't spray when I wanted to. The green I was going to use was all dried up. It looked OK when I checked it but I now know to actually check the paint with a brush! So I ended up mixing black and yellow to get the deck colour. I used a lot of yellow which was quite thin, so this meant I had to give all the green areas 4 coats. The hull needed 3 coats of terracotta (could have been worse, the instructions call out for red!).
On the whole then, I am fairly happy with how this turned out.
Glamour shots (if I can find a good angle) later.

I can't believe any one in their right mind would attempt that for a blitz build, so to have completed it in the time is awesome! :-D
Best wishes

That's great Ian and very well done, I would have said that was a bonkers choice for a blitz and it's good to see someone man enough to meet the challenge. Like all great pieces of art, view it from a distance :-D
